The Petzl Attache Bar Carabiner is a locking pear‑shaped climbing carabiner designed for belaying, rappelling, and general rope handling. When used with the included removable BAR accessory, the carabiner becomes unidirectional, meaning it stays oriented to load along its strongest axis — which improves safety and ease of use when belaying or moving rope on long approaches or glacier travel.

Without the BAR, the carabiner still functions as a classic pear‑shape locking carabiner with a smooth rope contact surface that works well with belay devices and knots like the Munter hitch.
