How should I clean my ropes, cords and slings?
Wash with clean, lukewarm water and mild soap if needed. Rinse thoroughly and allow them to air-dry away from direct sunlight and heat.
How should I store my ropes, cords and slings?
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight, chemicals, sharp objects, and excessive heat.
When should I replace my ropes and slings?
Inspect before and after each use. Retire them if you notice cuts, fraying, unusual stiffness, discoloration, chemical damage, or other signs of deterioration. Also retire them after a severe fall or impact when required by the manufacturer, or if their history is unknown. Always follow the manufacturer's inspection and retirement guidelines.
Climbing ropes, webbings, cords and textile slings can have a maximum lifespan of up to 10 years from the date of manufacture, depending on the manufacturer's guidelines. Equipment may need to be retired much earlier due to frequent use, damage, or exposure to harmful conditions.
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions, inspect equipment regularly, and retire it immediately if it shows signs of damage or its safety is in doubt.
