Some people find wire gate carabiners easier to clip rope than other gate styles; the Trango MD Wire combines this with a larger D shape that can be easier for use when conditions get icy or muddy. Larger shape carabiners are easier to operate when gloves must be worn. The MD is lightweight and best used for rock climbing, sport climbing, or expeditions.
