The La Sportiva Cobra climbing shoe is a highly sensitive downturned slipper designed for gym and bouldering performance with the comfort of an unlined shoe. Looking at the Cobra, it's a really good value climbing shoe with no unnecessary technical features and just the fundamentalist design. A great shoe for gym boulderers in need of a highly flexible and soft shoe that isn't too uncomfortable or painful.
The Cobra uses the softer Vibram XS Grip 2 compound designed for maximum friction, and the sole is only 3.5mm thick. This high level of grip and sensitivity will perform extremely well on steep and overhanging routes with micro holds, and the absence of laces and technical features should make the shoe incredibly supple. Although, this shoe is still meant to be really comfortable. One reviewer said that he wore it whilst multi-pitch climbing!
Being a slipper, the Cobra should be fitted on the snug side. But bear in mind that the unlined suede leather will stretch up to full size! So remember to size appropriately, and don't be worried by the break-in period. It will be worth it!
